Research
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a C-terminal tripeptide fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Research has identified it as a potent anti-inflammatory agent that acts independently of the melanocortin receptor pathway. Preclinical studies demonstrate KPV reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine production (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8) and inhibits NF-κB activation in intestinal epithelial cells. Research in colitis models shows significant reduction in mucosal inflammation and improved intestinal barrier integrity. Studies suggest KPV can be delivered orally with retained bioactivity due to its small size and resistance to enzymatic degradation.
