ARA-290 is an 11-amino acid cyclic peptide derived from the helix B surface of erythropoietin (EPO), engineered to activate the innate repair receptor (IRR) without stimulating erythropoiesis. Research demonstrates ARA-290 has potent neuroprotective and tissue-protective properties mediated through the β common receptor complex. Preclinical studies show significant reduction in neuropathic pain, improved small nerve fiber density, and anti-inflammatory effects in diabetic neuropathy models. Clinical research in sarcoidosis patients has shown improvements in small fiber neuropathy and metabolic parameters. Studies also indicate ARA-290 promotes tissue repair, reduces apoptosis, and modulates innate immune responses.
